Our Philosophy

"Project outcomes and the clients objectives are our priority, we don’t just hear the client; we pride ourselves on our ability to listen to your needs."

New Thinking, New Possibilities. Defines a core philosophy that we believe will change the way that “we New Zealander's” and all welcome guests, will begin to engage with our beautiful urban environments and open spaces in ways invigorating, sensory, and tactile.

For Urbanlogic success means more than reputation. Success is marked by our belief that excellence can only come from a strong and consolidated strategy, expert skill, vision, creativity and informed collaboration. Our multi-disciplinary ‘think tank’ approach provides a platform from which creative ideas can become tangible outcomes.

We do not arrive with pre-conceived ideas. We believe the first important challenge is to fully understand all the elements of place, people, history, culture unique to each site.

Innovation

"We judge ourselves on the quality of what is designed and built – specialising in translating a vision into reality."

In 2013 Urbanlogic are currently collaborating with some of the New Zealand's most creative and innovation thinkers of our time to develop a new professional design tool and smart city technology.

In 2012 Urbanlogic developed a new Visual Impact Assessment (VIA) methodology and process that offers 100% verified and accurate VIA photomontages which has resorted to 10 high profile projects in 2013 that have gained Resource Consent.

In 2010 Ian founded the Designing for Tomorrow website, a world-first urban design social network for everyone with a committed interest in the built environment, an information research hub devoted to tracking the future and cutting edge designs in the built environment.

Vision

"We offer a fresh and logical perspective to open space, inner-city regeneration and we add value to existing and new urban extensions."

Urbanlogic offer a vision that actually is visionary. We don't talk about smart cities, new public spaces we actually deliver on this. Other consultants are actually using our projects and experience for their case studies

Taupo District Council’s Urban Design team in collaboration with Urbanlogic have placed new ‘people hubs’ around the Taupo CBD (2010) to create funky and flexible mini spaces for locals and visitors to gather.

The three ‘people hubs’ which consist of recycled timber decking and flexible forests (trees in tubs) will be distributed outside various cafes and restaurants and in car parks on a trial basis over the next month to see how people use them and if they add value to our key public spaces.

Council’s Urban Design Manager Chris Bailey said this project is a New Zealand first. “We are the first town in the southern hemisphere to create mini public spaces that are flexible and can be relocated to different venues.”

The aim of the project is to create safe and modern social areas that can be moved around the town to different locations such as outside cafes, restaurants and even in carpark.

A hallmark of Urbanlogic is a seamless combination of high quality innovative urban design, public realm design and civil engineering to deliver a superior experience - and making it all happen on the ground.
